Music News
Classroom Curriculum:
During Term 3, Foundation students will be learning to distinguish between Fast and Slow sounds in Music and environmental sounds.
Students in Years 1/2 & 3/4 will continue to build upon their music skills and knowledge via the Kodaly method of teaching music literacy. Students will be involved in a variety of singing, performing, reading, writing & creative activities to help them develop their aural and music skills. The students will also be involved in pre-visit activities to prepare for the performance by El Camino in early Term 4.
Instrumental lessons:
Lessons commenced Week 1 of this term. It will be an 9 week term with the final week of term set aside as a make-up week, however some teacher’s ,may invoice you for less lessons due to public holidays and school based events. If your child is learning an instrument or doing singing lessons, your child’s teacher should have invoiced you for your child’s Term 3 music lessons. Musica Viva Concert- El Camino:
In Term 4, on Wednesday 22nd October, Year 1/2 & 3/4 students will have the opportunity to attend a incursion featuring the group - El Camino. El Camino celebrates the music of Latin America alongside musical influences from the musicians home in Western Sydney. Students will hear songs in ancient languages, performed with traditional instruments.
The cost to attend the concert is only $5.00 per student. Musica Viva has kindly given our school a discounted cost per student due to our school’s long association with Music Viva. For further information, please see ‘Events’ on Compass .
Instrument Hire
If your child is hiring an instrument from the school, you will receive an invoice from the school for Term 2 hire during the next few weeks.
