My School

The main, three storey red brick building built in 1922,  houses the Administration area and offices, the Uniform Shop, Computer Hub, Art Room, Staffroom, Student toilets and 7 classrooms.

Situated on the north west side is a timber building housing the Clasroom Music Specialist Teacher, the Canteen and two storage sheds.  On the opposite side of the courtyard is a square  timber building housing the Multi Purpose Room and 2 Prep classrooms.  The Multi Purpose Room is the home of our Before and After School Program.  Alongside the south boundary are a number of relocatable buildings which include the Library and four classrooms, an Instrumental Music Specialist room and the Sports Equipment Store shed.  Four additional relocatable buildings house another 7 classrooms.

Sheltered by these relocatable buildings is the Junior Playground equipment and the huge sandpit.

The school oval is supported by an extensive sprinkler system fed by two 45,000 liter tanks filled from the large roof expanse.  A four lane running track circles the oval installed in 2009, funded  through the Federal Government National Schools Pride Grant.

Behind the main building is a large amphitheatre shaded by a number of shade sails and a covered Outdoor Learning Area also funded  through the Federal Government National Schools Pride Grant.

Flemington Primary Schools prides itself on being environmentally conscious, and over the last 5 years has utilised a range of funding grants to implement programs and infrastructure to be awarded as a Sustainability School.

1.  A bank of 24 solar panels collects energy which is fed back into the grid and monitored via a computer set up in the foyer.  Students access, use and analyse this data through classroom units of work.  This project was funded through grants from the  and Sustainability Victoria grants.

2.  Water for the student toilets is provided by two, 30,000 litre tanks situated on the south east side of the school.  Water is collected from the roof of the main building with a connection to the main tanks as well.  This project was partially funded through a Federal Government Investing in Schools grant.

3.  The school has completed two water audits and completed the facilities and educational requirements for the Schools Water Efficiency Program.   Staff and students attend the Water Wise programs and the Water - Live It, Learn It Conferences.

4.  Additional water tanks with 100,000 litres of capacity provide sufficient water for our trees and garden beds throughout the school, including student vegetable and herb gardens.

Flemington Primary School is committed to open and transparent management and governance and offers the following documents for community view.  The Commonwealth Government publishes schools data on the  My School  website.

In 2009, the school underwent a Continuous Improvement Review assisted by Professor Len Cairns from Monash University.  With consultation and communications with the whole school community, a School Self Evaluation was compiled and from this, the 2010-2014 School Strategic Plan was developed.  The 2010 Annual Implementation Plan reflects the School Review and School Strategic Plan and guides the work of the staff for improvement this year.
